Kamakhya Devi Temple, Assam



The Kamakhya temples is not only famous pilgrimage site in Assam, but also known as a unique temple of country. It is located on the Nilachal hill, in the capital city of Guwahati. Every year, during the month of Ashaad (June), the Bramhaputra river near Kamakhya turns red and the temple closes down for three days. It is believed that the goddess 'menstruates' during this period. Considering this to be a woman's power to give birth, the deity and temple of Kamakhya is a celebration of 'shakti' in every woman.


Kal Bhairav Nath Temple, Varanasi : 


In the holy city of Varanasi, the temple of Lord Bhairav Nath is situated. It is said that, the only offerings that are made to God, here is alcohol. It is poured directly into the deity's mouth and the same is offered to devotees as prasad.


Nidhivan Temple, Vrindavan : 


Nidhivan temple is also known as mysterious temple and this temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is located in Nidhi Van, which is a forest in Vrindabvan. The interesting fact of this forest is the trees are intertwined with each other and flourish with green leaves throughout the year despite the dry region. It is believed that the trees represent 'Gopis'. Local persons are believed that after sunset, Lord Krishna arrives the temple and do rasleela with gopis. Many of locals claimed to hear the sound of ghungroo at night too.


Jagannath Temple, Puri : 


This temple is also known as mysterious temple of India. It is amazing that the flag on the top of the temple always floats in opposite direction of wind. Everyday a priest climbs the dome of the temple and changes the flag. It is a ritual that has been continuing since 1800 years. The ritual also says, if it is not changed any day then the temple must be shut for next 18 years.


Veerabhadra Temple, Andhra Pradesh : 


Veerabhadra temple, also known as Lepakshi temple is located in the Lipakshi district of Andra Pradesh. This temple can amaze people with it's architectural beauty. There are 70 pillars in the temple, one pillar which lies hanging in the premises of the temple, that is a real piece of wonder.
